This sophisticated
yet simple craftsman-style home was designed by Cheryl as a romantic
little get-away place while she was still living on the East Coast
and traveling regularly to the Mendocino area. It has one bedroom
(with a queen size bed and a featherbed topper); French doors open
out onto the deck. Awake to the sound of the ocean and view the
reflection of the sunrise over the Pacific. There’s a double-headed
shower for two with stone tiles in the bathroom.
The
living room has two sets of French doors which open out onto the
deck offering dramatic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Navarro
River east toward the
Anderson Valley. There’s a very comfortable
futon couch
(where a child or
one
additional adult can sleep),
a glass-front Lopi
gas burning “woodstove”, an antique pine table and chairs and a
Scandinavian armoire. The floors are newly refinished redwood and
Mexican paver tiles, with oriental carpets. As soon as you enter
Cheryl’s House, the relaxation begins, inspired by Asian accents and
the influence its natural surroundings throughout.
Other
amenities include a Denon stereo system with CD player, satellite
TV, DVD player, and high-powered binoculars
on
a tripod for viewing the whales. For those who enjoy cooking,
there’s a Jennair gas stove, a microwave,
coffeemaker, food
processor and an all-stainless interior dishwasher. The pantry area
houses the refrigerator, washer & dryer and storage space. If you
need to work while you’re on holiday, Cheryl’s House also provides
unlimited wireless access via a secure satellite internet
connection.

All
linens (cotton and down) and coffee/tea and pantry items are
provided. Custom redwood storm doors and shutters close the house
tightly for added
protection during
dramatic winter storms and an automatic generator insures you'll
always have power and water.
